Round Table discussion: Global Trade: Sanitary Regulations and Economic Integrity
Access to safe and nutritious food is a fundamental consumer right. However, for importing countries, the imposed food safety measures are not necessarily the same or applicable in the exporting countries, leading to unequal consumers protection and health. This gives rise to three important questions:
1. How can we achieve equal standards in importing and exporting countries to ensure equal consumer protection and facilitate global trade?
2. How can we simplify import requirements and harmonize standards in frozen seafood?
3. How can we increase economic gain and reduce fraudulent practices in frozen seafood?
